  1. Junior Coach Qualification Program Level 1 Started in Faculty

    In collaboration with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and under the auspices of the Regional Development Centre in Cairo, Level 1 of the Junior Coach Qualification Program in Egypt has already started at the faculty. Conducting the study in the faculty campus comes in activation of the faculty's role as a house of expertise in the academic and sporting fields aimed at community service, which is part of the faculty goals and mission. This would in turn help release of qualified graduates capable of meeting labor market requirements in the field of track and field players coaching both nationally and internationally.
    The course started Saturday, July 17 and is to be concluded on July 26 under the supervision of Mr Abdel Malek Al-Habil, Senior Manager of Development and Youth Programs in IAFF.The list of lecturers in the course include: .
    Dr. Wael Ramadan, Director of the Course and international IAFF lecturer; .
    Dr. Atef Sayed, international IAFF lecturer; .
    Dr. Tamer Al-Gebaly, international IAFF lecturer; .
    Dr. Mohamed Soleiman, international IAFF lecturer; .
    Dr. Feras Farag, course coordinator and international IAFF lecturer. .
    A large number of students applied for the course and 19 were selected (17 males and 2 females) as meeting the academic standards of Level 1 Program. The study program consists of a practical and a theoretical parts. At the end of the course written and practical tests will be held during which each student will be asked to present a practical evaluation project. The closing ceremonies of the course will be attended by Prof. Hend Hanafy, University President, Prof. Mohamed Khaled Hammouda, Dean of the faculty, Vice-Deans, Prof Hamdy Abdel Rahim, Director of the Regional Development Centre in Cairo and a host of faculty staff members.

  2. Faculty International Conference 13 _15 October 2010

    The Faculty of Sport Education_Abu Qir , Alexandria University is organizing "the 11th International Scientific Conference for Physical Education and Sport Science Sport and the 21st Century Challenges  Embracing the Differences" in the period October, 11_15, 2010. The conference is a continuation of a long series of scientific events organized or hosted by the faculty, with a remarkable participation of illustrious academic institutions and international sport organizations. The international dimension of the 2010 Conference is further emphasized by the hosting of seminars led by the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) and the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW), also involving Women's Sport International (WSI), European Non-Governmental Sports Organizations (ENGSO), Sport Association of Arab Women (SAAW), Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. The number of speakers in the seminars so far registered mounts to 23 distinguished international scholars, academics and sport-oriented figures. Seminars are to address important issues related both to global understanding and international cooperation through sport science and physical education.   3. 10 Million EGP approved by CIQAP for the Faculty _______

    On Thursday, April 2nd, 2009, an agreement was signed to fund the Continuous Improvement and Qualifying for Accreditation Project (CIQAP) by the National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency and Alexandria University by virtue of which the Faculty obtained a funding of ten million Egyptian pounds to enhance the educational process, scientific research and community involvement. The amount will be used to upgrade the faculty performance both nationally and internationally. On that occasion a large meeting was held in the Main Lecture Room of the faculty, attended by faculty leadership, staff member and administrative staff. Porfessor Khaled Hammouda, Dean of the Faculty made a powerpoint presentation of project and how it will work.

  4. CISA 2009 NEWS on Channel 5 _______

    Work is underway in preparation for hosting the CISA 2009 in the faculty. Channel 5 of Egyptian TV today had an interview with Professor Mohamed Khaled Hammouda, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Ahmed Saad El-Din, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Mr Hassan Esmat, administrative coordinator of the convention. During the interview, speakers reviewed themes to be discussed in the Discussion Forum and highlighted circumstances that led to hosting the event in the faculty, stressing the Egyptian role in Africa. Reference was also made to the sport exhibition organized as part of the event to present the latest technologies in the field of sport. It was agreed that Channel 5 would make a daily coverage of CISA .

  5. IMPORTANT MEETING TO DISCUSS CISA 2009

    Prof. Mohamed Khaled Hammouda held an extensive meeting in the Faculty Council Hall attended by members of CISA 2009 Hosting Committee. In the meeting, Prof Hammouda reviewed efforts made so far to co-organize and host the important event and stressed the importance of making such an event a success, especially because it will be attended by the elite of sport community in Africa and worldwide. Professor Hammouda briefed participants in the meeting on the aims of CISA 2009 and the topics to be discussed, emphasizing the great benefits the faculty will gain by hosting it, namely, making African brothers acquainted with the faculty capacities and human and physical resources, including the up-to-date scientific, educational, sport facilities, and the academic staff representing national, regional and international figures in the field of physical educational and sport. It is of utmost importance, prof. Hammouda said, that we organize and host African scientific conferences in Egypt, thus supporting the concept of marketing the Egyptian scientific products, bearing in mind that Egypt was the source of human civilization and the house of science and expertise for countless African students ever since the revolutionary movements of the 1960's that took African countries to the road of development and progress. The visit paid to the faculty by Mr Diamil Faye, president of Jappo, the consultant organizing the annual CISA event, and the Host Agreement signed between JAPPO and the faculty were also topics of discussion in the meeting. Mr. Faye was reported by the Dean to be impressed by the faculty capacity and modern facilities and establishments. Faculty staff members were called on by the dean to participate in the Convention by attending and delivering lectures and presentations on topics related to the Convention themes to promote Egyptian presence in African scientific events and foster cooperation with African scholars and people concerned with African sport. African sport can thus be supported developed and enhanced.   6. WORKSHOP CURRICULA DEVELEOPMENT _______

    WORKSHOP CURRICULA DEVELEOPMENT AND THE IMPACT ON LABOR MARKET Within the framework of the TEMPUS Egypt Project, a workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday 16 February 2009 in the Main Lecture Room of the faculty. The workshop is held under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Khaled Hammouda, Faculty Dean and Project Manager and Prof. Mervat Ibrahim Rakha, Head of the Biological Sciences and Sport Health Department. All faculty staff members, associate staff and students are invited to attend and participate in the workshop.

  7. FACULTY HIGHLY REPRESENTED IN NATIONAL _______

    FACULTY HIGHLY REPRESENTED IN NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL HANDBALL BODIES Day after day, the Faculty of Sport Education of Abu Qir proves to be a real house of expertise, and a centre of building men. Professor Mohamed Khaled Hammouda, Dean of the Faculty, has recently achieved a set of three successes, or rather a hat-trick of a special kind. Two weeks ago, he was in Switzerland as Member of the Quadripartite Committee to develop a curriculum for IHF and Olympic Solidarity coaching courses at the IHF Head Office in Basle, Switzerland. On Tuesday 29th of December 2008, he was elected with, high majority, member of the Egyptian Handball Federation, only to be appointed next day Vice-President of the Federation. Then while receiving his guests and friends who came to congratulate him for winning the elections, he received a message of the African Handball Confederation informing him of selecting him member of the Commission of Coaching and Methods in the Confederation. A real hat-trick to be boasted by the faculty. Another source of pride for the faculty is the fact that Professor Khaled is a veteran handball player, coach and international lecturer. He is also Member of the Sport National Council of Egypt and Co-Director of the ICHPER. SD Coaching and Coaching Science Commission. Congratulation Professor Khaled!

    Within the framework of cooperation between the committee of Community Service and Environmental Development and the Biological Sciences and Sport Health Department , the Second Festival for the Integration of Students with Special Needs and Students of Mental Education Schools in Alexandria will be organized as part of the Student Activity Day at 9:30 am. on Monday December 1st, 2008 in the Faculty campus
