QUALITY  ASSURANCE UNIT

The Quality Assurance Unit was created pursuant to decision taken by the Faculty Council on September, 13, 2005. The Unit Directors were appointed in accordance with the Organizational Chart of the Alexandria University Quality Assurance Unit. Secretariat staff, a financial officer and a procurement officer were also appointed.

  Vision:
The Unit hopes to become a major facility of the faculty through the development of ever-new institutional and academic quality standards for the faculties of sport education on the international level, and meeting the requirements and standards of the National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee, promoting values of excellence and competition through improving the quality of outputs in all programmes, thus ensuring the satisfaction b y the faculty graduates of labor market requirements.

Mission
The enhancement of the faculty educational, research, and sport system performance in the light of nationally and internationally approved standards through the promotion of the quality culture in faculty and local communities, conducting and carrying out studies and research, providing expertise in the field of quality management in the higher and pre-university education institutions and complying with quality assurance standards with the aim of obtaining accreditation.

Goals:
The Unit aims at the implementation of the Continuous Improvement of Institutional Capacity Projects, increasing the effectiveness of the learning process, supporting community involvement and scientific research prospects and the development of the infrastructure through:

    • Developing a distinct quality system for the faculty to upgrade the educational process offered by faculty staff members and improving the  students standard to cope with national and international standards;
    •  Spreading the culture of quality  assurance and accreditation among faculty staff members, associate staff, students and faculty employees;
    • Building mutual relationships with quality assurance and accreditation agencies on the regional level through the provision of required expertise and technical support with the aim of obtaining accreditation.
    • Winning the confidence of the community in the outputs of the learning process at the faculty through strengthening the ties the community to improve services offered by the faculty.
    • The development of a database for the faculty including: Faculty staff members,  associate staff, faculty employees, students, faculty programmes, academic degrees granted by the faculty, description of programmes and courses, identifying stakeholders and their requirements (so that these would form the basis supporting the process of decision-making on the faculty level.
    • The development of a measurement and evaluation system for the faculty performance (academic standards – educational programme – quality of learning opportunities – community involvement – research and other scientific activities – the effectiveness of quality management and enhancement).
    • Making suggestions and recommendations on the application of the quality system in the faculty and putting them in place in order to achieve the unit’s goals and prepare the faculty for the comprehensive evaluation for accreditation in the years to come.
    • Supporting continuous improvement processes through providing guidance for those in charge of the various enhancement activities in every field to always cope with quality standards.
    • Implementation of the continuous improvement and qualifying for accreditation.
    •  Applying for accreditation.
