Admission Requirements

  1. General Requirements

 

  1. A student should get the specified score in the physical ability test held by the faculty
  2. A student must be physically fit as decided by the medical commission after the medical examination effected, provided he has passed the physical ability test.

 

  1. Admission Tests
    1. Purpose of the tests: to select the students who are physically fit for the type of study offered by the faculty
    2. Location of the tests: tests are held in the faculty campus

 

III.       How to Obtain the   Physical Ability Test Card

  1. Physical Ability Test Cards can be obtained at the Admission Coordination Office (Maktab Al-Tansiq), located in Alexandria University Dormitory Building, in Semouha district.
  2. A student must apply to the appropriate Admission Coordination Office branch as geographically specified in his Secondary Education Certificate Examination seat number, bringing in 2 recent personal photographs and a photo-copy of the original seat number card.
  3. Each student shall receive only one Physical Ability Test Card. Applying for another card using counterfeit documents shall be subjected to legal action against the student.
  1. Test Procedures

A student shall appear before the examination board at 08:00 pm on the fixed date bringing in:

    1. The Physical Ability Test Card
    2. 6 personal photographs (6X4 cm)
    3. Identity card
    4. Certificate of sport excellence (if any)
    5. Sports wear ( T shirt, shorts, light shoes, short white socks, swimwear)

Tests are conducted according to the following schedule:

DAY ONE

  1. Initial heart examination (to make sure of heart efficiency to perform the sport ability tests)
  2. Height and weight tests

 

DAY TWO

Posture Test:
This consists of:

  1. Measuring height (minimum height accepted is 165 cm. This condition is waiverd in case a student has won a national championship in a sport activity attested by a formal certificate endorsed by the specific sport federation, the Olympic Committee and the Sport National Council;
  2. Measuring body weight, height and weight must be proportional according to scientific standards;
  3. Detecting postural deformities through medical examination

Personal Test:
This consists of testing:

  1. pronunciation,
  2. hearing,
  3. voice,
  4. appearance,
  5. general knowledge, and
  6. attitudes.

Note: physically fit students are referred to V below (Medical Examination by the General Medical Board).

Sport Skills Test:
Maximum score for the skill is 40 marks
Minimum score for the skill is 16 marks (40%)

Scores are calculated as follows:

  1. International and first class players:  30 – 40 marks
  2. Other classes and school teams: 20 – 30 marks
  3. Practicing players: 20 and less than 20 marks

A student shall take the test in one of the following sports:

Soccer, basketball, volleyball, handball, hockey, table tennis, lawn tennis, squash, track and field events, swimming, diving, water polo, gymnastics, rowing, weight lifting and body building or any other sport approved by Faculty Council.
Note: 100 m sprint and 800 m run are not part of testing the track and field events.

DAY THREE
Physical Aptitude Tests:
This will only be held for students who have passed the sport skills test with at least a 16 mark score (40% of the total mark). Tests are conducted as follows:

Test One

Speed Test: 100 m sprint - measured in time (10 marks)

Test Two
Endurance Test:    pull ups - measured in number (10 marks)

Test Three
Forward Jump Ability Test:
Standing long jump measured by distance (10 marks)

Test Four
Agility Test: standing, bent legs hands-on-the-floor, legs thrown back, measured in repetitions in one minute (10 marks)

Test Five
Flexibility Test: standing on bench with a minimum height of 30cm, leaning forward so that fingers reach maximum distance and keeping in place for 3 seconds,  measured by distance (10 marks).

Test Six
Endurance Test: 800 m run, measured in time (10 marks).

  1. Medical Examination by the General Medical Board

 

Students who have passed the sport skills, posture and personal tests shall report to the examination board to fill in the medical examination referral form, bringing in their identity cards.

Note: Students are selected to be admitted into physical education faculties, from those who passed the physical fitness tests, through the Admission Coordination Office, based on the scores obtained in the General Secondary Education Certificate examination.
